First handmade button-down shirt

Using a burda style “novice” pattern I endeavoured to make my first button-down. The instructions were brief to say the least. Sleeve placket tutorial – the easiest to follow

This sleeve cuff tutorial was quite helpful. However, I would not cut the longer piece as in this part of the tutorial; instead I would make it into a flat felled seam.

Though the shirt took me about 4 separate days of work, one whole day was spent piecing the printed pdfs together. The second day was spent tracing on to tracing paper. The rest of the time was spent trying to figure out how to do things.

The results though were fantastic.
